you are using a model similar to threadless.com but with more expensive garments and complicated construction. what is the turn-around time for production to online store? will people wait so long for it? will they buy it somewhere else? can any designer participate? or only womenswear?
ReplyDeleteOur manufacturers are working on a 6 week turnaround time. For some that will be too long to wait but we believe that for many in order to obtain the design they want, which is not mass produced, this is an acceptable period of time. Naturally there will also be people who don't vote but like the look of the designs that have been manufactured and are ready to ship. We are starting with dresses, but are open to ideas for alternative design briefs. We have initially targetted design students, who are very keen to participate, but anyone capable of putting a sample together can submit their design.

The web-site plans are taking shape, and whilst these things always seem to take far longer than one would ever imagine - it looks like Own Label is going to become a reality. On board we have a couple of great designers, an experienced consultant and me! I have the arduous challenge of trying to keep on top of the finances, whilst working full-time to try and make sure we have the finances! We are getting great support from the fashion colleges and can't wait to get this up and running
